The XJ Edge

The new XJ Edge cage from Allentown is an Eighth Edition Guide-friendly cage that provides over 83 in2 of floor space and was designed to fit within the XJ racks you already own, providing the small footprint, yet high cage capacity that you’ve come to expect from the XJ line of housing solutions.

Maximum cage density in the smallest possible envelope

The XJ accommodates five mice per cage and provides 160-cage capacity in a 182,8cm by 88,9cm P/NC rack footprint to deliver maximum density in a compact space.

Cage floor space of 77.5 sq. in./500 sq. cm is complemented by an internal height of 5.1 in/13 cm from the cage floor to the underside of the wire bar lid, covering more than 50% of the cage to comply with global standards.

The Micro Barrier Top incorporates a hinged filter retainer which swings up for easy filter replacements, as well as a bottle recess for an external water bottle that can be extracted without removing the cage from the rack. A molded silicone gasket is secured into the cage lid to prevent gasket damage and to ensure the safety and protection of animals and research staff. The gasket material maintains its configuration and sealing capability while in use and through autoclaving and washing.

The XJ was also designed to allow compact stacking (for example, 25 in/ 64 cm per stack of 10 cages) allowing for less material handling equipment, increased throughput and storage capacities.

Greater visibility makes XJ the clear choice

The clear cage, available with or without locks, includes several innovative new features which significantly improves in-cage visibility. The single-clip flip-up (and stay up) card holder and the in-line wire bar lid, which aligns the food pocket and the water bottle to one side of the cage, both enhance unobstructed observations from the cage front.
